Another Sad Farewell to Lizzie (was Fizz)
Who sadly lost the use of her back legs and at an age of 14/15 years the decision was made upon the vet’s advice for her to peacefully go to sleep …
This is a video I made of Fizz as she was when I knew her .. She had been reported to the dog warden by concerned neighbours as she never went out for walks and the owner was not in the best health …. The dog warden contacted me and asked if there was any way we could help out .. and so began this spaniels journey ! Long story short I met and spoke with the owner and we agreed it was in the dogs best interest for her to come to me during the day and go home at night to her , so she had her companion with her at night ! The video shows Fizz was seriously overweight and struggled to walk … and so began our version of ‘BootCamp’. I took over her feeding .. and no treats were to be given when she went home ! Fizz came out on local shoots , on holiday with us several times to Cornwall and made up for lost years .
When the owners health deteriorated she was taken into a care home and Fizz was signed over to us .. knowing this girl so well I was able to place her into a home where I knew she would be loved and cared for and able to enjoy her senior years and have regular daily exercise. From here her name was changed to Lizzie..
A couple of weeks ago I had an overwhelming feeling to contact the owner of Lizzie and asked if I could visit .. I had a strong feeling time was short .. and a plan was made for a couple of weeks … I was too late. (ouch)
My heart goes out to Tracy Muscat and her son Luke who adored Lizzie, and gave her so much love and freedom ..
Tracy.. Thank you for giving Lizzie a wonderful home and for loving her .. she was a special lady ..
