Change to Trial period...

Wednesday 6th October 2021

We have changed our policy with Our rehoming Trial Periods having listened to feedback from New adoptive owners ...
Whilst many dogs adjust and settle in their new homes as if they have always been there .. there are on occasions some that don't and it's these situations we want to address .. It can be difficult when you open up your heart and home to welcome a new addition in to your life to find you connect on some levels but not on others ... The dogs need time to adjust to you as much as you need time to adjust to them... Some people have said they questioned had they done the right thing bringing a new dog into the home during the first week as it is not always a smooth run .. but during the second week they felt more relaxed and would start to connect ... some would say they need more time .. and that is what this post is about 'Time'
We are extending our Trial Periods from 2 weeks to 4 weeks to ensure The dog has time to settle, prospective new owners have time to ensure they are a good match all round having experienced the good with the bad and prepared to work with the dog.. (No dog is perfect .. that said no human is either) !!
Working with the dogs living in our home enables us to know them pretty well before we embark on rehoming them, it also gives us time to assess them and know their good and bad points which we are able to inform you about and also to know what type of environment we feel will be best for them .. something we take our time on and take great pride in.
