Breed - ESS
Detects - Bat and bird carcass & GCN
Harley is a 1 year old rescue dog and the newest member of the team, he's been with me since January 2022.
He came to us from Buddy's Rural Animal Rescue BRAR, the fantastic lady who runs the rescue, Judy, has a true understanding of working dogs and their needs. She allowed me to trial Harley for a longer period than usual and without pressure. This was mainly due to the fact that whilst Harley had the work ethic that is desired, he had a few issues with settling into the home, with my other dogs and resource guarding. This is managed well now and improving all of the time.
Since arriving I've been truly excited about Harley's working promise as a conservation detection dog, and he has not disappointed me once! He was made for this, and is thriving with every new challenge he's faced with. He's successfully imprinted onto bat and bird carcass, so will be deployed this summer to gain much needed experience and to participate in his first efficiency trials.
He is also joining Stig as a great crested newt detection dog, on lead he works at a slower pace and is a methodical searcher.
I'm genuinely excited to be working with this special boy.
Highlights - finding a dead bird on a walk and indicating on it!
Favourite reward - tennis ball
Favourite walk - anywhere!!
