Bailey ... what a journey ..!
Absolutely lovely boy and tail well on its way to healing ( hurrah!) although his days/nights are spent in an oversized cone to prevent him from licking !! Today was his first run out and what a superstar! Almost 4 weeks post op from tail amputation which has taken time to heal ! In that time he has been Amazing with a capital A! and adapting well to daily life within the home . Wonderful with dogs and people ... has learned a lot in his time here ... sleeps sound at night , has a good appetite, clean in the house . Responding well to his name and loves the ball ... will search till he finds... I feel sad when I get dogs like this ..as he is ball driven and soft mouthed .. and in the right hands could have been a fabulous working dog .. gun dog , scent detection , he has a good nose !
There is no reason why he still can't be one amazing dog ..!!!
Bailey is a strong dog on lead but off lead he is so ball focused he stays close !
I have done a DNA profile in him and hopefully the results should be in fairly soon .. (Bailey was originally purchased as a cockerpoo!)
Many think he is Lab x Spaniel which I admit I thought along those lines at the beginning as his coat had been fully clipped pre arrival here due to heavy matting
I also looked at several crossbreeds including Irish Water Spaniel x Cocker Spaniel ..but the way he moves I also see Pointer mix Which stands out in a couple of the photos .. so I am itching to see the results .....
So happy I have been able to give Bailey a taster of what it's like to be a dog ... ! To run , have freedom , discipline and boundaries, .. He is without a shadow of doubt a fabulous boy .. who will need an experienced handler to help him continue to move forward ... At this stage I will say not suitable with young children under 14 years due his exuberance! He is bouncy and Strong... However there is no aggression or malice in this boy .. he is a very loving trustworthy honest boy waiting to give his all to someone! His hip bones no longer protrude !!
Super boy who will excel in knowledgeable hands.
A couple more weeks for the tail to heal and Bailey will be placed up for adoption ...
