Fudge ....
A journey in Photos .....
Fudge arrived here end of August with two female Cocker Spaniels .. he was a stud dog , very lean ,no muscle, fear or being touched especially around his head neck , wary of people he does not know .. wanting to reach out but frightened !
I hope these photographs have captured the dog within !! The frightened boy within the right environment will do so well!
Fudge pestered the life out of the girls .. ( understandably) and he underwent castration ...healed well ! Loved the one on one time out with toilet duty and short on lead walks .!!
Problems started to arise with Eli .. our resident Labrador with Neospora and Fudge was a bit full on ...Eli has no back leg muscles and his hind legs are rigid .. If he were to go down he would be unable to defend himself as he would not be able to get up quickly !!' So I contacted Julie Warboys and had a long chat and she agreed with me and offered to take Fudge on foster .
We both hoped that he would settle and become a part of her pack as a working dog .. But sadly not !!
We are both aware hormones take time to drop and I value Julie's report 100%
Without shadow of doubt Fudge has been harshly treated ... he will take time to trust.
Julie has written a fabulous report for Fudge.
Julie's Report
Meet the complicated and fairly confused young Fudge, a complete blank canvas who has his issues, but can be worked through with the right handling and environment, he is starting to learn his name, to recall and other basics, but needs careful and sensible handling to not trigger his fight reflex, so no heavy handed trainers need apply, he is a loan wolf, rather than a team member, otherwise he would be staying with me, this lad has a lot of potential to be a cracking worker, once he fully realises he is a cocker spaniel, he is off lead and doesnt naturally go too far away, keeping an eye on me, quickly responding when i turn around, go a different way or stand still, he loves being involved in everything i am doing, travels well in a crate in the truck, happy to jump in, ideal home would be, a single person or older couple with reactive but controllable, dog experience, no children under teenagers, one other dog a possibility, providing she is a dominant and confident bitch, then he treats them with the utmost respect, he is freshly neutered and still needs his brain and hormones to realise that, he has met cattle and shows no interest in the chase, not met sheep, very interested in birds, but not to obsession, happy to sleep now he is learning to chill out and relax, clean and quiet indoors, happy to be left for short periods, whether indoors or in the truck, pulls like a demon on the lead, but is learning to not pull, very interested in living life at the gallop, very aware and switched on, i love this lad, so a very special home only, will be considered.
